What is e4 Sports?

e4 Sports is a sports venture founded and run by Kunal Davey, a CA by day (and sometimes night) but always a FIDE rated chess player. He aims to bring quality events to amateur players, encourage participation in events and generally make competitions fun.

Why are you doing this now?

We notice that while people play recreationally from the comfort of their homes, participation in tournaments and competitive events is low, although this has picked up after the pandemic. We want to motivate casual and semi-pro players by giving them an experience akin to world class events.

Are there regular tournaments organized by e4 Sports?

Currently, we have three types of events –

  1. Periodic online tournaments such as the e4 Sports Monthly Rapid Tournaments
  2. One-off events either online or OTB (over-the-board) such as the Olympiad Special Tournament
  3. A tailor-made custom event that we organize for members of specific organizations (schools, colleges, corporates)

So, as an amateur player, I participate in..?

The periodic online tournaments or the one-off events. There is usually no entry fee and it is open to people of all ages, nationalities, demographics and playing levels. There are cash prizes to be won, and of course, the opportunity to be featured in the e4 Sports Chess Hall of Fame.

Would you help plan an event for our organization?

Absolutely. This is our catered-event offering. Do contact us at “efoursports@gmail.com” and we will plan it out.
Having been a part of a few organizations we feel that competition among friends and colleagues are restricted to fun-Fridays, random HR organized events (no fault of theirs), and a low-energy fest. We have a few ideas to change that.

Are there other non-catered events that I can participate in?

For now, only the online tournaments. We are planning a few more programs, and the world shall be notified about them in due course.
